New SkillsFuture registry to boost quality of educators with regular training from next April

09 July 2025

Singapore is set to launch a national registry for adult educators in April 2026 as part of the new Training and Adult Educator Professional Pathway (TAEPP), developed by the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL) and supported by SkillsFuture Singapore.

This move aims to professionalise and uplift the standards of adult education by ensuring that trainers delivering SkillsFuture-supported courses are continuously upgrading their skills. Educators will need to register from Q4 2025 and maintain their status through at least 40 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and 80 hours of teaching practice every two years.

The initiative targets about 11,000 adult educators, including efforts to bring in experienced industry practitioners—such as those in law and healthcare—as certified trainers. This shift moves away from one-time certifications toward a system of continuous learning, improving both trainer credibility and teaching effectiveness. The TAEPP is part of a broader strategy to enhance training quality, build a more responsive adult education ecosystem, and support Singapore’s long-term workforce transformation goals.
